Congress condemns attack on Wanaparthy MLA Hyderabad, May 25 (INN): The Telangana Congress on Monday strongly condemned the attack on their party's MLA from Wanaparthy Dr G Chinna Reddy by TRS activists.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly), Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and MLA A Sampath Kumar described the attack as atrocious. Jana Reddy said that the local TRS leaders attacked Congress MLA when he objected over violation of protocol by not inviting him for an official function in Venkatapuram village of Mahabubnagar district on Monday. He alleged that the TRS leaders were displaying utter arrogance against their political opponents. He asked the police officials to take stern action against those who attacked Dr Chinna Reddy
Shabbir Ali said Dr Chinna Reddy was a senior politician and it was him who first raised the demand for separate Telangana on November 26, 2000. He led a team of 40 Congress legislators to Delhi demanding statehood for Telangana. By attacking Dr Chinna Reddy, the TRS activists brought disrespect to the entire State. He advised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to teach basic courtesies and protocol to his party men.
Bhatti also warned KCR of retaliation by Congress cadre, in a democratic form, if TRS leaders attack Congress leaders. (INN)
