Modi Govt for 'sab ka vikas ke liye' : Venkaiah Naidu Points made by Sri M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, HUPA and Parliamentary Affairs Minister in a Press Meet at Pune on May 26, 2015.
Friends !
The last year's Lok Sabha verdict giving an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha for a single party after 30 years was a historic one. It was the judgement of the people against corruption, mal-governance, dried up opportunities for the young and aspirational India, lack of security against distress, economic paralysis and the gloom that had come to overtake the lives of the people.
People of the country revolted in a democratic way against the drift and lack of direction and a sense of purpose. It was in this context that Shri Narendra Modi was elected as the Prime Minister of the Country and the government has just completed one year in office.
Instead of celebrating one year of being in power, Prime Minister has asked the Ministers, MPs and the BJP machinery to reach out to the people in every nook and corner of the country to inform them of the initiatives launched by the Government so that they can take benefit of them and become partners in the efforts for all round development of the country.
That is why I have come to Pune today. One way of reaching out to the people with the information about the government's new initiatives is to hold a press conference in Delhi and reel out the schemes launched. But our PM and Government do not believe in that Delhi centric approach.
India lives in its lakhs of villages, small and medium towns and cities. Mass media including Television and Print believes in reaching out to targeted audience. The national media, both TV and Print have their own priorities.
For the people to insist on and demand their rights from local governments, they should first know of their entitlements under new schemes. This communication needs are best served by the vernacular and regional media.
National media is more interested in statistics about the flow of investments, rate of economic growth, fiscal and current account deficits, pace of economic reforms etc.
The massive information campaign set in motion by the Prime Minister and BJP is not meant to boast of the new initiatives. Its purpose is to inform the people about their entitlements so that they can take advantage of them.
-The vernacular and the regional media is more connected with the lives of the people and are best suited to make a difference to their lives. The Government hence, seeks your support to empower the people with information about new schemes.
-During the last one year, the Government led by Shri Narendra Modi has launched new initiatives to benefit virtually every section of the people including the poor, farmers, labourers, youth, women, minorities, weaker sections etc.
-I have come here to speak more about the new initiatives that benefits all such sections of the society. It is our duty to inform the local media about the same so that the details of such schemes could reach the ultimate beneficiaries.
