Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan at Sri City Sri City, May 27 (INN): Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was carried out at the premises of Astrotech Steels Pvt., Ltd., in Sri City on Wednesday.
A. K. Choudhary, Development Commissioner (DC), Sri City participated in the programme, which was an ongoing activity under the 'clean & green' campaign initiated on October 2, 2014 in Sri City, as per the Prime Minister's call.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary appealed all the units of Sri City to take up periodical cleaning activity for keeping Sri City more clean and green. He felt the need for a training programme to educate the staff in disposing off the garbage and industrial waste material on a day-to-day basis.
Commenting on the Swachh Bharat campaign initiated by the DC, Ravi Sannareddy, Managing Director, Sri City said, "I thank the Development Commissioner for giving a call to all the units to maintain the clean and green environment."
"We built Sri City on the dictum of a clean, green, breathe-easy environment to work and live-in. Programmes of this kind, with the active participation of all units, will certainly help in maintaining 'Swachh Sri City'," he added.
A. K. Choudhary, P.S.B. Sastry, Assistant Development Commissioner, and other officials of DC's office, Arun Miranda, Managing Director, Astrotech Steels along with a team of officials, and a team of Sri City officials actively participated in the programme. They all cleaned the surroundings of the factory, removed weeds, waste materials and boulders, and planted green plants. At the end, all the participants took 'swachhta pledge' administered by Choudhary.
