AP plans to increase flower cultivation Hyderabad, May 28: The Government of Andhra Pradesh plans to increase flower cultivation in a mission mode and identified the places in Visakhapatnam District with an aim to generate higher income through flower cultivation, Chief Secretary said.
Sri I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary has held a meeting today with the officers of Forest, Tribal Welfare, Marketing Departments to discuss on the development of Floriculture in Andhra Pradesh and possibilities of taking up Floriculture in Visakhapatnam District.
It is decided to explore seriously the possibilities of commercially growing floriculture in Araku area, where coffee is grown since the climatic conditions required for coffee production and floriculture are one and the same, Chief Secretary informed.
Advisor, Agriculture Marketing Sri Krishna Rao informed that there are number of people with right expertise in Bengaluru, especially managing I-FAB and their assistance can be taken to go further with this programme.
Chief Secretary has issued instructions to get a full scale Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared for taking up floriculture project here.
Horticulture Department will get the DPR prepared, based on which further decision would be decided to handle the project.
Senior Officers Sri A.K. Parida, Sri Vidya Sagar, Sri Premachandra Reddy, Smt. Usha Rani and others attended the meeting.
