Congress nominee will win MLC seat: Azad Hyderabad, May 29 (INN): Congress senior leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed confidence that Congress candidate Akula Lalitha would comfortably win the MLC elections to be held on June 1.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Azad claimed that all Congress MLAs were united and the party has sufficient numbers to ensure victory of its nominee. He said that the Congress party nominated a woman candidate as there was no representation of women in Telangana Legislative Council. He said AICC President Sonia Gandhi took the matter very seriously and that was the reason why senior leaders like him and G Vyalar Ravi were sent to speak to all the legislator. "We have full faith on our MLAs, but we don't trust the thief who is stealing MLAs from other parties," he said.
Senior leaders including MP Vyalar Ravi, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka were also present.
