Actress gets notices for endorsing Maggi Actor Madhuri Dixit has been sent notice for endorsing Maggi noodles, which is under scrutiny by Food Safety and Drug Administration for high content of lead and monosodium glutamate. Madhuri has been endorsing the product since few days and the 48-year-old actor has been asked to explain the basis of her claims in the ad.
The notice from the Food and Drug Administration in Uttarakhand, asks Dixit to respond within 15 days on an ad that talked about the nutrition value of Maggi noodles. "If she fails to respond to the notice within the stipulated time frame, a case could be registered against her," said Food Secrutiy officer, Joshi.
The two-minute 'Maggi' noodles came under regulatory scanner after samples collected in some parts of Uttar Pradesh were tested in the lab and results showed that it contains high amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead.Shockingly, it has been found that Maggi contains 17 parts per million lead, while the permissible limit is only 0.01 ppm.
