Cash for vote: ACB arrests T TDP MLA
Satthupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the infamous Cash for Votes scam. Sandra Venkata Veeraiah on Monday appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for questioning in the cash-for-vote case.After the interrogation police reportedly took him into custody.
The ACB on Saturday issued him a fresh notice to appear before'5 p.m.'on July 6.The ACB summoned him for questioning last month too but he failed to respond. He later sent a letter to the ACB, seeking 10 days' time to appear before it, citing ill-health.
As per reports Mr Veeraiah's name cropped up during investigations into the involvement of Mr Revanth Reddy and two others in the cash-for-vote scam. The ACB last month quizzed V. Narender Reddy who was the TDP-BJP candidate in the Telangana legislative council elections. The ACB also served notice on TD leader Jimmy Babu who had introduced Mathaiah Jerusalem to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson.
This is the second arrest in cash for vote scam. Earlier TDP legislator Revanth Reddy was arrested by the ACB on May 31 while he was offering Rs.50 lakh as bribe to nominated member Elvis Stephenson. Recently he was released on bail and now the arrest of Veeraiah turned shocker to T TDP.
