Congress leaders stage dharna at Secretariat Hyderabad, July 17 (INN): Accusing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of turning Hyderabad into a garbage city, Telangana Congress leaders on Friday held a massive dharna at the State Secretariat supporting the strike by sanitary workers.
The leaders including, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president D. Nagender and other senior leaders participated in the strike. They demanded that the State Government accept all the demands of municipal workers and increase their pay scales. They alleged that KCR has completely neglected the strike which has been going on for the last 11 days.
The Congress leaders were taken into custody when they tried to barge into the Secretariat. They were shifted to Nampally Police Station and released later.
