No Holiday: Kalam says; CBN follows
The Telangana state government has declared a holiday on Tuesday as a mark of respect to former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who died on Monday.Chief Secretary Rajiv' Sharma have issued the orders declaring Tuesday a holiday. All government offices, educational institutions in Hyderabad and nine other districts of Telangana will remained closed.
But it was a working day in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the former president was against declaring a holiday on his death.
"Don't declare a holiday on my death, instead work an extra day. This was his message," Naidu said, paying tributes to Kalam at a meeting held at the state secretariat.Meanwhile several managements of private schools and colleges in both states also declared a holiday as a mark of respect to the former president.
Chandrababu and his team of ministers paid rich tributes to former president APJ Abdul Kalam. Babu said Kalam played the role of statesmen and served the country with utmost dedication.
Its known that CBN was key behind to pitch APJ Abdul Kalam as President of the country. AB Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister decided to go in for a non-Hindu as President. To that effect PM sent a list of three names to the then NDA convener Chandrababu Naidu. CBN himself picked the name of Kalam and he even convinced the scientist to accept the big post.
