AP CS holds video-conference with Collectors Hyderabad, Aug 1 (INN): Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is meant to enhance livelihood security of the people in rural areas by generating wage employment, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R.Krishna Rao emphasized.
Krishna Rao chaired a meeting on Saturday with all the District Collectors through a video conference to discuss on drought conditions, seasonal conditions, drinking water, contingency plan, Smart Village'Smart Ward, MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), Night Shelters, Land Acquisition for Irrigation Projects, Railways and National Highways, Road Safety, E-POS system etc.,
By implementing the MGNREGA, it will gives legal guarantee of at least one hundred days of wage employment in a financial year to a rural household, whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled and manual work. The Act is applicable in the Districts notified by the Government of India, the Chief Secretary said. He informed that the process to enhance working days from 100 to 150 for Visakhapatnam, Kadapa and Ananthapuram districts is under consideration.
Reviewing on the seasonal conditions, Department of Agriculture officials informed the status of the rainfall in the Districts. Average rainfall received in the State during the months of June and July there is 227.5 mm rainfall against normal of 247.9 mm with a deviation of -8.3% of rainfall.
While reviewing on the Road Safety, road accident victims should be admitted in nearby hospital either Government or Private immediately and without harassment they may be accessed free treatment including surgeries. In this regard there is a need to educate all the Medical Institutions and Trauma Care Centers, the Chief Secretary opined. He has also directed the Road Transport functionaries, Police functionaries to publicize through electronic media on the impact and uses of wearing helmets by the two wheeler riders. Create an awareness programme on the specifications as well as manufacturers list of helmets.
The Chief Secretary directed the officers that fix one day in a month for conducting a meeting to review on the progress of Smart Village-Smart Ward Programme with its partners and Janmabhoomi-Maavooru Committees.
Before implementation of New Land Acquisition Act, all the District Collectors are advised to utilize the opportunity which available now to allot advance possession of land for Railway Lines, Irrigation Projects and for National Highways, the Chief Secretary suggested.
District Collector Srikakulam Lakshmi Narasimha Rao informed that a Night Shelter was opened at Srikakulam and it is running successfully. The Chief Secretary said that permission will be accorded to all the new shelters at the earliest and also advised the Collectors to constitute a committee to establish Beggars Rehabilitation Homes in all the Districts for welfare of the beggars by providing all the daily needs in the rehabilitation homes.
Senior Officers of all the Departments are participated in the meeting.
