TS Govt to set up special onion counters Hyderabad, Aug 3 (INN): Minister for Marketing and Irrigation T Harish Rao on Monday directed the District Collectors to set up special counters to sell onion at Rs. 20 per kg.
The minister issued these directions in a video-conference with District Collectors and Joint Collectors at the State Secretariat on Monday. Harish Rao said special counters should be set up all Rythu Bazars and Revenue Divisions. He said each family would be supplied two kilograms of onion for Rs. 20 per kg. He said that local public representatives would inaugurate the special centres in their respective areas.
Harish Rao said onion would be procured from Nasik of Maharashtra and Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh for sale at subsidised rates across Telangana State. He said efforts were on to purchase available onion stocks from the farmers. He said proper queue system should be maintained at all special counters.
