DK Likhi takes charge as Midhani CMD Hyderabad, Sept 1 (INN): Renowned technocrat Dr. Dinesh Kumar Likhi took charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of city-based Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, (MIDHANI) here on Tuesday.
Prior to this Dr. Likhi was functioning as Director (Production & Marketing) at MIDHANI, the prestigious Mini-Ratna under the Ministry of Defence.
As Director (Production & Marketing) at MIDHANI, Dr Likhi was instrumental in formulating policies for ensuring implementation of growth oriented projects and long-term business agreements for procurement of critical raw materials required for production, steps that saw the company's turnover increase from Rs 418 crores in 2013-14 to Rs 656 crores in 2014-15. Several Technology Oriented Initiatives, Business Development Initiatives, Cost reduction initiatives and Best Practices in Management Functions including HR and CSR activities based on Triple Bottom Line approach were implemented by him.
Dr. Likhi, a gold medallist in Metallurgical engineering from IIT, Roorkee, a Ph.D in Strategic Alliance from IIT Delhi and an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy from the Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, brings to the coveted CMD's post at MIDHANI a rare blend of extraordinary academic achievements coupled with practical industry experience of over three decades that is sure to propel the organization into contributing in a bigger way in research, development, manufacture and supply of critical alloys and products of national security and strategic importance for Defence , Aerospace and Atomic Energy.
Dr. Likhi started as a management trainee at SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant and rose up to the post of General Manager (Business Planning) in 2009 at SAIL's corporate office before he moved to MIDHANI in 2011.
Dr. Likhi is a life member of Indian Institute of Metals, National Institute of Personnel Management, Indian Institute of Materials Management and Global Institute of Flexible System Management. He is the President of a non-profit society Strategic Alliance Professional Association (SAPA). He has published more than 25 articles in areas of technology and management. He has been awarded the Jawahar Award for Outstanding PSU Executive in 1995, group awards for his contribution in turnaround of SAIL in 2000 and preparing growth plan for SAIL in 2005 and new business development project of Wagon Building in 2011. He was a recipient of the 'Award of Excellence' in the area of Technology and Management by Lions Club International in 2013.
