Projects are important than Special Status, says Venkaiah Hyderabad, Oct 3 (INN): Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the completion of projects in the State was more important than giving Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.
He was speaking after laying foundation to 30-bedded hospital being constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.80 crore in Podalakur of Nellore district on Saturday. He said that 11 States in the country enjoys Special Status. However, all those States are facing economic crisis and have been seeking Centre's help to complete their projects. He said granting Special Status would not resolve the problems being faced by Andhra Pradesh.
Venkaiah Naidu said that the issue of Special Status to AP has been referred to NITI Ayog. Meanwhile, he said that the Centre was ready to help AP Government in early completion of its projects.
The Union Minister also stressed on collective efforts, from Panchayat to Centre level, to ensure fast pace development and growth. He said as against the global trend of slowdown, India has been progressing well under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
AP's Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
