Slaughter houses' modernisation works on: Minister Hyderabad, Oct 6 (INN): Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Tuesday informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has accorded permission for modernisation and upgradation of existing four closed slaughter houses in Hyderabad.
In his reply to a question raised by BJP MLAs Dr. K. Laxman and T. Raja Singh during Question Hour, the Minister said that the slaughter houses at Ramanasthpura, Gowlipura, Amberpet and New Bhoiguda have been modernised and a few them have also started functioning. He also informed that the works on Jiyaguda slaughter house too would be started on getting nod from the Central Government.
The minister also denied that these slaughter houses, meant for domestic consumption in the respective local areas, were indulging illegally in large scale export using modern abattoir and slaughtering over and above the permission.
