Clean environment boosts productivity: SCR AGM Hyderabad, Oct 6 (INN): Clean environment boosts productivity of individuals, said South Central Railway Additional General Manager Umesh Singh while delivering his key note address at a seminar on 'Swachh Bharat Mission' conducted by the Medical Department of South Central Railway.
He further said that Swachh Bharat Mission, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the biggest ever cleanliness drive in the country and hoped it would achieve the goal of Clean India. While elaborating on the benefits of Swachh Bharat, Umesh Singh stated that cleanliness and clean environment would boost the image of our nation, lead to reduction on medical budget, attract foreign tourists and attract foreign direct investment. He narrated the success story of cleanliness drives carried on by Singapore during the period from 1977 to 87.
SCR Chief Medical Director Dr Girija Shankar, in her address, described various steps being taken by Medical Department of SCR to ensure cleanliness in railway hospitals, railway stations and railway colonies. She informed that mechanized cleaning has been resorted to and manual scavenging had been totally abolished in South Central Railway.
SCR Chief Commercial Manager Laxmi Narayan and Chief Personnel Officer Ravinder Kumar also addressed the seminar. Deputy Chief Medical Director (Health & Family Welfare) Dr. A.V.S.R.K Prasad presented his paper on Swachh Bharat, narrating the initiatives of SCR towards Swachh SCR. A Skit on 'Swachh Bharat' staged by employees of Central Railway Hospital, Lallaguda, helped reinforce the concept of 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness.'
