CM sacks Food Minister over corruption charges Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief' Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday, sacked his Food and Civil Supplies Minister Asim Ahmed Khan from the cabinet on corruption charges. The minister Khan has been accused of' negotiating deal with local builder over ownership of slum land.
Kejriwal conducted a special press meet to announce his decision. Arvind Kejriwal addressing media along with his associate Manish Sisodia said, "We've received a complaint of corruption against Cabinet Minister Asim Ahmed. The complainant has sent us a 1-hour audio clip. I & Manish listened to that audio clip and it seems to' be a serious matter. We won't tolerate any corruption, even if it is our minister or legislator''
''We want to send a strong message across the country; corruption, of any degree, will not be tolerated," Kejriwal Added.The food portfolio will go to AAP legislator Imran Hussain, he said.
Kejriwal emphasized that he had acted without any prompting. "Nobody brought this matter to us, the media was not aware of this," he asserted.
Earlier Delhi's law minister Somnath Bharathi was shown the door too on being involved in a physical abuse case filed by his wife. In June, Jitender Tomar resigned as law minister after he was accused of faking his college degree.
