Harish Rao launches CCI godown in Gajwel Hyderabad, Oct 10 (INN): Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao inaugurated the Cotton Corporation of India's centre for purchase of cotton in Gajwel of Medak district on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons later, Harish Rao informed that the CCI has launched 83 Centres in different market yards across the country today to facilitate cotton farmers to sell their produce. He advised cotton farmers to stay alert from middlemen. He said all cotton farmers have been cards to ensure direct sale of their produce without the involvement of any middlemen.
Harish Rao claimed that the Telangana Government took several measures for the welfare of farmers in the State during its 15-month rule. He said new godowns with a capacity of 17,000 Metric Tonnes were being constructed at a cost of Rs. 1024 crore. He said of Rs. 17,000 crop loans, so far Rs. 8,400 crore have been cleared to different banks. On the other side, he said the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh Government has cleared only Rs. 28,000 crore out of Rs. 7,000 crore dues. He alleged that all opposition parties have joined hands only to defame the TRS government.
Describing the alliance between Congress and TDP as 'unholy', he asked as to why Congress was not protesting against the TDP Government in AP demanding waiver of crop loans.
