Tourism Minister reviews Bathukamma arrangements Hyderabad, Oct 11 (INN): Tourism Minister Ajmeera Chandulal on Sunday reviewed the arrangements for the conduct of Bathukamma festival.
Speaking to media persons after the review meeting at Haritha Bhavan here, the minister said that efforts were being made to make Bathukamma festival an international event. He said tourists from foreign countries would be invited to participate and witness the festival from next year onwards. He said the tourists would be enlightened about the relevance of worshipping flowers in Bathukamma festival.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy said based on last year's experience, this time elaborate arrangements would be made at Tank Bund for the celebration of Bathukamma. He said entry for men would be completely prohibited and women police officials would be deployed for security arrangements. He said special watch would be kept on anti-social elements and eve-teasers.
Cultural Committee chairman and MLA Rasmai Balakrishna, Government Advisor KV Ramanachary, Tourism Development Corporation chairman P. Ramulu, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
