CM holds review meeting on drought Hyderabad, April 29 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to take all measures to deal with the drought and heat wave conditions across Telangana State.
Addressing a review meeting with the District Collectors and other senior officials, the Chief Minister held detailed discussions on drought, rising temperatures, shortage of drinking water and other related issues. He said due to prevailing heat wave conditions, the NREGS works should be executed only during morning and evening.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to arrange food for all affected people so as to ensure that no deaths are reported due to starvation. He said arrangements should also be made to arrangement fodder and water for cattle.
KCR said this year the monsoon is expected to be above normal and therefore, special focus should be laid on upcoming Khariff season. He also asked Collectors to discourage farmers from growing cotton as their prices are set to witness a sharp decline in near future.
The Chief Minister said that the Mission Bhagiratha works should be expedited by completing the works of laying of pipelines, power station, pump house and water treatment plant.
The review meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mission Bhagiratha Vice-Chairman M. Prashant Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma and other senior officials.
