TDP leaders meet Governor over drought situation Hyderabad, May 6 (INN): Telangana TDP leaders called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Friday seeking his intervention to ensure relief and financial assistance for the drought affected areas in the State.
Led by Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, a delegation comprising of A. Revanth Reddy, S. Venkata Veeraiah and R. Chandrashekar, submitted a memorandum to the Governor on the drought conditions in Telangana State.
Speaking to media persons later, Ramana said thousands of farmers and agricultural workers were migrating to other States in search of livelihood due to extreme drought conditions in their areas. He said that the State Government has completely neglected the relief works in drought affected areas. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has focussed his total attention on winning by-elections for Palair Assembly constituency.
Ramana said that the TDP leaders had visited the drought affected areas and prepared a report which was handed over to the Governor on Friday. He said that the Governor has been urged to direct the State Government to take immediate measures towards drought relief. He said that a delegation of Telangana TDP leaders would also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central Ministers next week seeking their help for drought hit areas of Telangana.
The TDP leader said while there was no drinking water for the common people in Telangana, the State Government was ensuring supply of thousands of litres of water to liquor companies. Revanth Reddy said that he would approach the court on this issue.
