Under-construction building collapses, 2 killed Hyderabad, July 24 (INN): Two labourers were killed and 10 others were injured after a two storey under-construction building collapsed at Film Nagar here on Sunday.
The collapsed building was the extension of Film Nagar Cultural Club. On learning about the incident, GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy ordered the officials to deploy cranes and heavy equipment to take up relief work on war footing at the site. The teams from GHMC, Fire Department, police and National Disaster Response force were pressed into action.
The deceased have been identified as Mansoor Shaik of Kolkata and Anand of Raichur. GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has announced Rs. 2 lakhs Ex-gratia to the families of the deceased.
The injured persons were shifted to Apollo Hospital for treatment. They have been identified as Srinu (29), Monappa Shiva (31), Kondi Mallesham (25), Saheb Mandal (20), Koteswhar Rao (35), Sitaram (32), Ajit Biswas (24), Tippanna Veerappa (24), Ashok (35) and Saraswathi (35).
The GHMC Commissioner has ordered for detailed enquiry to ascertain the reason for the mishap. JNTU has been requested to complete the enquiry and fix the responsibility within a week. Further, the JNTU has been requested to check the structural stability of the remaining building. A case has been filed against the management for the lapse.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed grief over the death of two labourers.
