High Court strikes VCs appointment Hyderabad, July 28 (INN): In a major setback to the Telangana state government, The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday rejected the appointment of nine vice-chancellors by the Telangana Government on the ground that the appointments were not done on the basis of qualifications.
The High Court bench headed by the Chief Justice delivered its judgment today. The GOs related to the appointment of the vice-chancellors were also scrapped. The court, however, gave four weeks stay on the cancellation of the appointments following an appeal by the Advocate-General Ramakrishna Reddy.
Various students' organizations were demanding appointment of VCs for varsities across the state besides upgrading infrastructure at the universities.
