Uttam vows to expose KCR's falsehood

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has vowed to expose the lies and falsehood of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on irrigation projects in the State.

"KCR has mortgaged the interest of Telangana State by deciding to shift the main project from Thummadihatti to Medigadda. This will cause a huge loss to the interest of Telangana farmers," said Uttam Kumar Reddy. He informed that the Congress party has convened an expert talk and discussion on 'Pranahita Chevella/Kaleshwaram project" on Friday at 3 PM at TPCC Headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan.

"We have invited retired engineers and several irrigation experts for discussion on the Chief Minister's false claims on three majors on Godavari River. We will expose how the shifting of main project from Thummadihatti to Medigadda was detrimental to the interest of Telangana. Instead of acting like the Chief Minister of Telangana, KCR is behaving like the agent of BJP-Government of Maharashtra," he alleged. "Telangana Government gave up 7 Mandals, 2 lakh acres of land and the fate of lakhs of tribals to Andhra Pradesh to enable it to construct Polavaram Project. But we failed to ask for just 3,000 acres for submergence from Maharashtra Government to build Pranahita Chevella project," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Chief Minister's refusal to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accommodate 3,000 acres in lieu of lakhs of acres given by Telangana to AP remains a mystery. "By shifting the project to Medigadda, the TRS Government has increased the capital cost by over Rs. 50,000 crore which needs to be borne by people of Telangana. Further, a burden of annual recurring cost of Rs. 15,000 Crore has been imposed upon people in guise of Kaleshwaram project. Congress party will not be a mute spectator to this open loot of public exchequer," he said.

The TPCC chief also accused the Chief Minister of falsehood on the ayacut. "The figures of 40 lakh ayacut under Kaleshwaram project are false and bogus. By drawing 2 TMC water per day, an ayacut of only 16 lakh acres could be served and this has been confirmed by all irrigation experts," he said.

He also alleged that the tender process of Kaleshwaram project was non-transparent and no global bids were called. "The Chief Minister appears to be in a hurry to execute country's biggest scam. Congress party will expose all the irregularities and falsehood being committed by TRS Government," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Friday's meeting with irrigation experts and retired engineers would expose the false claims of TRS Government.
