Constitutional restrictions for granting SCS: BJP Hyderabad, Aug 31 (INN): BJP leader and its AP party affairs in-charge Siddharth Nath Singh on Wednesday said that there were constitutional restrictions on granting special category status to AP.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Singh said that the 14th Finance Commission does not permit granting special category status. He said that the BJP led NDA government was committed for the welfare of AP and hence increased the share of state funds from 32 per cent to 42 per cent. He said that the Centre was ready to fulfill all the assurances given to AP in the AP Reorganisation Act.
Siddharth Singh found fault with the Opposition parties saying that all parties had accepted the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission and now they are demanding SCS to AP, which the 14th Finance Commission does not permit.
