Harish Rao, Etela reviews rescue in Karimnagar Karimnagar, Sept 25 (INN): The under-construction canal of Mid-Manair project in Karimnagar developed minor breach on Sunday resulting in inundation of low-lying areas in the vicinity. The officials swung into action and shifted the residents of the low-lying areas to safety.
Ministers Harish Rao and Etela Rajendar and District collector Nitu Kumari Prasad inspected the spot -and supervised the relief measures. The ministers informed the media that the Mid-Manair Reservoir has the capacity to hold 5 lakh cusec of water and said that the flood situation in the affected areas was under control. The Ministers appealed the villagers not to panic and assured all timely help. They also promised to pay compensation to the villagers and evacuate them for their safety. About 50 families were shifted to the relief camps till Sunday afternoon, the sources informed.
The officials have started evacuation of residents in Kodurupaka, Manwada, Rudrawaram villages. With the inundation of roads, traffic movements on the Sircilla-Karimnagar road have severely hit.
Meanwhile, a team of NDRF reached Karimnagar to undertake relief measures.
