Minister launches procurement of cotton Adilabad, Oct 28 (INN): Minister for Forest Jogu Ramanna on Friday launched the procurement of cotton at the Adilabad Agriculture Market Committee's CCI Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramanna asked the farmers to sell their cotton produce at the Cotton at the CCI centres alone. He said that the government has fixed an MSP of Rs. 4,800 per quintal for cotton at 12 per cent moisture content. He directed the officials to ensure that there was no scope for any irregularities in the procurement of cotton and assured farmers of proper services at the AMC yard.
Earlier, the farmers had demanded the minister to pay Rs. 6,500 MSP, however after deliberations with officials and traders, the farmers agreed for Rs. 4,800 MSP.
