Harish Rao inaugurates lift irrigation at Singuru Sangareddy, Dec 8 (INN): Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao on Thursday inaugurated lift irrigation at Singuru project at Pulkal mandal in the district. The minister released water for the lower stream canal.
Speaking on the occasion, Medak MLA Babu Mohan said that the people of the region have been waiting for water for the farms for years since Independence but the successive governments over the years did nothing to provide water to the farmers of the region. He lauded the TRS government for providing water to the district saying that the state government has fulfilled the wishes of the people of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Harish Rao said that the state government was committed to the welfare of the farmers. He said that the TRS government took up the project work on a war footing. He said that the project capacity would be enhanced to 4TMCs from the present 2 TMCs. Forty four villages in Andol and Pulkal mandal will get water from the project, the minister said.
Stating that during the last eight years, canal for 83 kms was dug up, the minister said that after the TRS government came to power, 87 kms canal was dug up and added that the rest of the works for 27 kms would be completed by February next year. He said that about 262 culverts were constructed in a span of two years while only 202 culverts were constructed in the past 8 years.
The minister said that by next year, the government would supply irrigation for about 48, ooo acres of land in the district. He said that the government would ensure irrigation facilities to every acre of land. He said that the state government was providing quality power to the farmers for 9 hours and assured the farmers of the district need not worry for the ensuing cropping season.
