TRS Govt is weakening BCs: BJP Hyderabad, Jan 23 (INN): Telangana BJP president Dr. K. Lakshman on Monday accused the TRS Government of hurting the interest of Backward Classes in the State.
Speaking to media persons at BJP State headquarters here, Lakhman said that the TRS Government was trying to cut BC quota, to provide 12% reservation to Muslims in the State. He said that the BJP was totally against giving reservation on the basis of religion although it supports initiatives to eradicate educational and economical backwardness among Muslims. Accusing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of playing religion-centric politics, he said that the BJP would strongly oppose proposed 12% Muslim quota.
Lakshman informed that the BJP would launch a three-month long awareness programme "Samaj Chaitanya" to enlighten the masses on the failures of TRS Government and also the various schemes being implemented by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. He said that the BJP would hold meetings at district-levels from 27th to 29th January to to finalise the "Samaj Chaitanya" campaign schedule. He also announced that the party would organise "Assembly Gherao" programme on March 12 against the TRS Government.
